Samsung is set to reveal its newest Galaxy S5 to the world on Monday, February 24th, but reliable Samsung sources have already discovered what new camera software features users can expect. Samsung expert SamMobile has revealed that of the latest Galaxy S5 camera modes, a new Aqua Mode has been placed among them. Why is this revealing? Because it confirms a rumor that we’ve heard for some time about the Galaxy S5.
When Samsung launched the Galaxy S4 Active last year, the Korean manufacturer did so with the hope of offsetting Sony’s waterproof Xperia Z sales. Although there were some Samsung defectors who abandoned Samsung’s latest and greatest for greener, photographical pastures, many Samsung users welcomed the GS4 Active, with numerous tech comments being posted to the effect of, “I wish this had been the Galaxy S4 of the year, not one of the variants.” Samsung’s fame with the GS4 Active was so unexpected that the company deliberated about the possibility of going all in with the Galaxy S5 and making it waterproof.
And SamMobile’s confirmation of an Aqua Mode in the Galaxy S5 camera mode collection affirms the same. Why would Samsung place an Aqua Mode into its camera mode list if the Galaxy S5 cannot be used underwater? The Aqua Mode of the Galaxy S5 is the same Aqua Mode given to Galaxy consumers in the Galaxy S4 Active, so the waterproofing rumor is all but confirmed from the mouths of Samsung officials.
Among the new Galaxy S5 camera modes, apart from the Aqua Mode, are the following:
- 3D Tour Shot
- Focus Select
- Dual Camera
- Golf
- 3D Panorama
- Auto Portrait
The above Galaxy S5 camera modes are newly-released camera modes for Samsung’s latest device, and are modes that were not packed into the Galaxy Note 3. It’s likely that the Galaxy Note 4 will see these new camera modes as well, come October. As for the current stretch of Galaxy S4 devices, it’s likely Samsung will update them with these six new camera modes.
For those who may not know, Samsung’s Unpacked 5 Event starts on Monday evening, February 24th, at 8PM in Barcelona, Spain. The Unpacked 5 Event will be streamed live online, depending on your respective time zone and time conversion.
